I have no photograph to share. I could just grab one from the archives I know...but I'll just write instead. At least it's doing something which was the point of posting a picture a day anyway. I needed that goal in place to motivate me to post to this blog more often.
Yesterday was a long day. After work on Wednesdays, I go to a jewelry/metalsmithing class. I don't get home until almost 10:30 which is waaay past my bedtime. But it really is worth it. My artistic soul so badly needs that inspiration and rigor. I'm learning new techniques and ideas are flying through my head; I feel the itch to solder something at random times in the day. The contrast of leaving the place where I teach and going to a place where I am the student is such a great experience. I can't really put it into words - which is not surprising. I'm a visual artist not a linguist which is probably why I am drawn to reading anything that is written well. I appreciate it so much because I can't do it.
Anyhoo, all of this is a long story about why I didn't have time to take a picture and come up with a witty antidote. I'm even writing this after the day in question at the counter in my kitchen. Sitting here bleary eyed because I woke up too early and went to bed too late.
I do have one humorous tale to tell. This one falls into the category of "Misunderstood Song Lyrics".
Jimmy Hendrix's song All Along the Watchtower is a long time favorite of mine. Yesterday, I heard the Bob Dylan version ( which, yes, I know came first). Now, I've heard Bob's before, but having never really liked him, I can't say for sure that I've ever really listened to the whole thing. Perhaps due to stress and exhaustion, my hand couldn't make it to turn the dial on the radio.
Bob's version, lacking the electric guitar and definitely not as speedy as Jimmy's, allowed me to hear the lyrics with more clarity. And I was surprised to learn that Jimmy wasn't saying "I was getting laid" but rather "The hour's getting late".
True story.
