Art is not what you see but what you make others see. Edgar Degas

I love trees. I love them for their protection from the hot summer sun. I love them for their new buds promising the imminent arrival of spring, I love them for their glorious autumn colors and the sound of wind rushing through their crispy fall leaves. Most of all I love the the silhouette of a naked tree in winter.
I read The Color Purple last month and one of the characters talks about how everything in nature wants to be loved, just like humans.
This dialog is from the movie.
Shug: More than anything God love admiration.
Celie: You saying God is vain?
Shug: No, not vain, just wanting to share a good thing. I think it pisses God off when you walk by the colour purple in a field and don't notice it.
Celie: You saying it just wanna be loved like it say in the bible?
Shug: Yeah, Celie. Everything wanna be loved. Us sing and dance, and holla just wanting to be loved. Look at them trees. Notice how the trees do everything people do to get attention... except walk?
I loved that.
