I read an article about propagation through ground layering.
Where you take one of the branches and dig a little hole in the groung, lay the branch in the hole, cover it with dirt and lay a stone on it to keep it in the dirt.
It works with hydrangeas.
So, last summer I gave it a go.
The new growth in the bottom right of the picture as of this spring.
You can detatch the new growth from the old branch to create an entirely new plant.
Nothing makes me happier than free plants.
Well.....almost nothing.
Let's just say it's on the list of the top five things that make me happy.
Other branches
I like the contrast of last year's dead flowers with this year's new green growth
decomposed blossoms from last year
