Just when you thought winter was cold and dreary, stuff starts blooming.
Nature, man.
Nature, man.
Always keeping you on your toes.
The so-called weather man said the high today would be 50 but I'd put money on the fact that the temp never left the low 40's. Add a brisk wind and it was downright chilly. I went out to rake the pine straw that had been accumulating since sometime in the fall ( don't judge) and was pleasantly surprised to find that my winter jasmine had bloomed. At least I think it's a winter jasmine. I "borrowed" it from a neighbor's yard so there's no way to be absolutely sure.
So, if you're one of those people who hate the winter and can't wait for the return of spring,
here are some winter blooms to tide you over.
cyclamen
I have no idea what this is...but clearly it's about to bloom
geranium
overwinter your annuals and you can enjoy the blooms all winter
calendula
Or you can just bask in the sun and ignore the cold wind. But that takes way more imagination.
Happy New Year!
