Thursday

a month later

In the garden a month later and sooo much has happened.  One of the things I like best about gardening is that things are always changing.  If you get busy and cant get out there for a few days, things keep happening and then you're presented with surprises when you return.

Unfortunately the surprises are not always good.  Apparently the weather has been to warm for the broccoli and brussel sprouts because they've begun to flower.  Here in Georgia, our weather can change at the drop of a hat.  So the cold temps that got the plants started quickly changed over to 70 degrees and now they're flowering.  We ate two batches of broccoli and now the darn things are through.  Never even got to try the brussel sprouts,  One day they were tiny little sprouts and I was waiting for them to grow larger and the next day they were flowering.  Maybe next year....

The tulips are preparing to bloom, the speedwell , dianthus, and lamb's ear are taking over and I've got strawberries and chives making their way up.   One great discovery is that I let the arugula go to flower and some cool little flowers emerged.  White petals with dark veins.  They're really cool.
