garden update

The garden is in full bloom.  I have several vases in my house and I even had some to take to a friend at work.  Nothing like bringing someone some flowers!  It really makes their day.

My irises that I moved last fall from a less sunny location in the front yard to a very sunny spot in the back finally bloomed.  They're white!  And they're  beautiful and very proud.  I think of them as the poor man's orchid.

Most of the plants I put in last spring have grown quite comfortable and have rally started spreading out this spring.  I've already started taking pieces and moving to other parts of the garden.  I'm also going to share some things with my sister and her husband.  In return, he is making a rustic style ladder/trellis for my new clematis.

I've also planted some tomatoes.  It's a little early maybe, but last year I started from seed and didn't get any fruit until august, which is quite late.  I can also throw a cover on them if we get some crazy late frost, which is unlikely.  This year, I skipped the seeds, and put in plants from Pike's.  I found some four packs of plants about 6 inches tall for an about 3 bucks.  I love love love homegrown tomatoes and I just cant wait until august.  I also started seeds for tomatillos, jalapenos ( seeds saved from last year's crop) as well as butterfly flower, guara, and castor bean.  I have some summer squash and beans that I'll sow directly once it's a little warmer.
I LOOOOOVEEEE growing stuff!!
