Art is not what you see but what you make others see. Edgar Degas

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Only my car knows what a great singer I am. I just gave quite a performance on the way home from work. Best way to unwind, I swear.
I used to drive home in silence. I'd rock out on the way to work ( Led Zeppelin, White Stripes, Interpol, Greenday), listen to talking noise shouting talking noise yelling talking noise loud talking banging all day, and by the end of the day my ears and brain just can't take another peep, squeak or whisper.
I've changed schools, which has changed my commute to a 30 min all highway drive ( but not much traffic thank goodness). My music selection on the way to school hasn't changed, but my drive home has. I started listening to music, but a different type ( Fleet Foxes, Decemberists, Delta Spirit, Local Natives) on the way home, windows down if possible, and hair blowing, singing along like I was giving a free concert. I now walk in the door happy, refreshed, re energized. I don't greet my boyfriend with complaints of my day or tales of my struggles. Just a smile and a hug.
The power of music.
