Sunday

weekend

What a fantastic weekend.
On Saturday we toured the High Museum's new Exhibit (member's only preview! )
Side note:  membership to the art museum was the best Christmas present idea I've ever had
There is nothing like an inspiring trip to the museum to awaken the creative mind.  I've been teaching from a book for so long that being able to see works of art in person, in their original size is so fantastic.  A Pollock just isn't the same in the book!  I could stare at one for hours in the museum.  Two really great Alexander Calder pieces were up as well.  A book just cannot illustrate the graceful balance that he creates .

Lunch at Taqueria Del Sol ( FISH TACOS!!)

A quick visit to Pike's to pick up fall vegetables and a new fern ( yes, I have a problem.  Some women can't resist shoes.  I am tempted by plants and pottery).

Salmon cakes for dinner ( my specialty) and a really good movie ( the Soloist - Jamie Foxx is brilliant)

Sunday was spent in the garden starting at 10 am.  I cleaned up, split some perennials, and planted my fall veggies.
I am trying something new this year.  My raised bed doesn't get full sun in the fall and winter so I put some lettuces and broccoli in containers.  I figure I can move it around in order to find the best sun.  I also put some in the raised bed in a different spot than last year to see if that helps.  Experimenting is the key to successful gardening.
