Art is not what you see but what you make others see. Edgar Degas

how are you helping?

What's up with rednecks and burning stuff?  Haven't these people heard of COMPOSTING?!

On that note.  Are you doing your part to divert things from the landfills?  Especially things that won't break down for four thousand billion years?  Plastic cant be be recycled and it doesn't break down in the landfills people.  You're all out there having kids, yet you're not thinking about what you're doing to the planet that they will inherit!

Some ideas to share:

Reusable mesh bags from the Container Store.  They are awesome produce bags.  No more using those completely useless plastic produce bags.  They might be made from recycled plastic, but they're still plastic - completely noncompost able plastic.

Reusable Cloth shopping bags.  You can make them or buy them.  I have a great lightweight nylon bag that I keep in my purse.  It's perfect for running by the store on the way home from work.

Plastic containers.  Art teachers can always use stuff with lids.  Consider donating to local schools.  Butter, yogurt, sour cream, etc.

Stop buying stuff that uses tons of packaging! Whole Foods and many other "organic" stores sell stuff in bulk.  They'll preweigh your containers so you can keep reusing the same one.  No plastic bags!

When I go to a store and only getting one or two things , I stick them in my purse and fore go the bag.  Or just carry them out.  You'd be amazed at what a pair of hands can carry!
