One serving of broccoli coming up.

If only my yard received a little more sunshine in the winter....I could grow so many vegetables.  But, as it is, with the nearby trees and the lower position in the sky that the sun takes in winter, I can only get about four hours of direct sun.  This results in very little growth and production of my cooler temp loving vegetables.  I'll get another burst in the spring when the amount of sun increases, but then the temps warm up so fast that everything begins to flower.
That's what broccoli and brussel sprouts are, you know, immature unopened FLOWER BUDS!
